1. Iteration

The first companies related to the defense industry went through the process in the winter of 2024/2025.

Participant requirements

The case companies should be small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs with a maximum of 250 employees) within the production category, and they should be suppliers to either the defense industry or the IT and communication technology industry or related indutries.

Each company needed to set op a cross-functional team with participants ideally from:

  • Sales
  • Procurement
  • Production
  • Product development
  • IT
  • Finance

The cross-functional team participated in the work with:

  • A process model aimed at ensuring cross-organizational understanding of supply chains (scope: 2 working days spread over 4 half-days for the cross-disciplinary group).
  • Cyber training intended to increase awareness of cybersecurity and specific solution possibilities (scope: 1 working day for the cross-disciplinary group).
  • Serious Games focusing on future scenarios regarding geopolitical developments and conditions for conducting production in Denmark (scope: 1 working day for the cross-disciplinary group).

Common education day

The participating companies have also participated in a day with presentations on:

  • The shifting geopolitical landscape and its implications for businesses, focusing on political, economic, and security trends by Professor Olivier Schmitt, Royal Danish Defense College.
  • Embrace digitalisation and how essential secure and scalable cloud computing has become modern IT infrastructure by Associate Professor Marco Peressotti, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, SDU.
  • The fundamentals of cybersecurity, human nature, and best practices by Assistant Professor Peter Mayer, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, SDU.
